"That much data"? How much data? For 5000 albums we're talking what, 50-60k records? If you're optimizing purely for speed and not resource usage (which they can do, seeing as they're running on a closed, dedicated box) that's trivial. Throw a gig of ram in the box (they can afford it at the prices they charge) and cache everything except the audio files. Forget sub-20ms, sub-5ms should be possible unless their developers are asleep. Slimserver could do the same thing but people expect it to co-exist on a low powered machine with a bunch of other apps. -- radish ------------------------------------------------------------------------ radish's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=77 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=28499 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
