1) The pitch won't vary but the sound will be harder for our brains to process. It's a bit like the "cogging" effect on direct drive turntables - hard to pin down but ultimately rather disturbing. 2) If the USB audio streaming is NOT async/packet then I for one would not touch it with a ten-foot pole.
