1) The pitch won't vary but the sound will be harder for our brains to
process. It's a bit like the "cogging" effect on direct drive
turntables - hard to pin down but ultimately rather disturbing.
2) If the USB audio streaming is NOT async/packet then I for one would
not touch it with a ten-foot pole. USB was not designed for audio
"fidelity" - whatever the hell that is.

You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it
ain't what you'd call minimal...

...SB3+TACT+Altmann+MF DACXV3/Linn tri-amped Aktiv 5.1 system and some
very expensive cables ;o)
