Ok, I've done quite a bit of listening today substituting my SCA2 with Endler 12-step balanced attenuators. Bottom line is they sound equally good to me, so my recommendation to anyone looking at a single-input music setup is not to bother with a preamp, get/ make yourself some decent attenuators and you're done (at a tiny fraction of the cost). @cliveb: how far are you able to turn down the volume via SC before experiencing noticeable degradation? -- egd Internet forums: conclusive proof depth of gene pool is indeed variable, monkeys can be taught to cut code, and world peace is utterly unrealistic...
