I agree :-)
The reasons I am looking to debian are :
- using (em)debian stuff, it could be quite easy to (re-)build the
initrd and root filesystem
- I would be more comfortable with a support filesystem to debug drivers.
- I am already using debian on IXP ans MIPS boxes.

Anyway, a first "structural only" kernel patch is almost ready for
X50/X51 family.
"Structural only" because as I do not understand why a lot of code is
ASIC3 based in the x50 code I got, I removed all that stuff.
If someone could explain to me why the x50 code was ASIC3 based, it
would be great...
