Actually, on a related note.

If I feed the patch you gave me to patch:

patch < gerds.patch

I get:

> Waider (klortho.waider.ie) $ > patch < ~/tmp/bbdb/bbdb-print-patch 
> can't find file to patch at input line 5

and I have to manually feed it the filename. Now, this is obviously
annoying, but reading the manual to patch doesn't help me a whole lot
in understanding what the correct set of flags for 'diff' to avoid
this problem is. Actually, from reading the manual page I get the
impression that the problem is that you have lisp/bbdb.el as both the
'before' and 'after' files, which I think causes patch to disregard
the common path... 

ANYWAY, he said, attempting to get on track, if you know the correct
diff flags to avoid this, please pass them on, and I'll stick 'em on
the web page as well.
