Yes, just the popularity.  More people know how to use git than bzr,
which means more people will perceive a lower barrier to working with
us.  Also, I've been using git at work every day for the last four
years or so, which means that I feel personally very comfortable and
productive with it.

It seemed a bit weird to host a free software bugtracker project on a
web service that includes a non-free bugtracker.  Gitorious is free
software, so it isn't going to lock us in with any non-free features.

It's a good point.  I would have considered LP if it had been free
software when I started out with be in early 2008.  I think we aren't
confident enough that we want to stay with bzr to move to it now,
though.
