Thanks for your feedback on this issue. I have seen it fail for both mp3 and FLAC. I have also seen it fail on SoftSqueeze as well, which is why I was thinking that it may not be a firmware problem.
I have also been experiencing a SqueezeBox crash recently (very infrequent). Half way through playback, the squeezebox will just reboot. I hear a slight crackle, the screen goes black. Most of the time the box will then restart with the "welcome" message, redetect the network and then continue playback. Other times the screen remains black and unresponsive and I have to power-cycle the device. Maybe this is unrelated, I don't know. I wonder if you have ever seen this effect too?
