Now this is silly. Yes some rich people are involved
in MoveOn. But its base is broad and filled with
average folk disgusted by what they see in their
political foes. In truth, the same can be said about
right wing groups like the Christian Coalition.

Citizen groups on both sides are motivated by a blurry
but definite image of the world they want to live to
see.

Putting aside arguments over methods, many of the
participants in MoveOn want to see a touchy-feely
future in which all children are given free food and
education and the Earth is safe for dolphins and apes.
People will be careful not to hurt each others
feelings by saying unkind things. Many of them
recognize the vital role of markets and competition.
Others do not.

The Christian Coalition also has a definite image of
the desireable Earth of a hundred years from now... a
burnt out cinder, ravaged by war and pestilence and
covered with skeletons scattered during a final battle
between good and evil. Many children have been saved
not by the tax-and-spend methods listed above but by
the more efficient and tax friendly means of
persuading them to love Jesus, so they will be
transported to Heaven instead of LEFT BEHIND.

1. This is both true and utterly fair.

2. The present administration overflows with people,
including the President, who openly avow to the latter
belief.
