I think you meant Afghanistan.  And after 9/11, the
Saudis had to shuck that liability fast.  It was a
convenient place to redirect our ire from the fact
that the hijackers were nearly all Saudis.

And to prove I am not a doctrinaire liberal (unlike
you doctrinaire republicans) I am PROUD of
Afghanistan.  In an emergency, Rumsfeld and Cheney got
out of the way of the professionals and let them do
their jobs there.  And they did magnificently, using
DIPLOMACY -- along with smart bombs -- to win, exactly
as they did it in Bosnia/Kosovo.

It was Clinton's military that won both of those wars.
