The introduction of referees doesn't mean the players have to abandon and
respect for their fellow competitiors. An honest batsman will walk before the
finger's gone up.
It will also provide us with one of the football fans' greatest hobbies,
complaining about poor refereeing. I'd rather be in a position to complain
about bad refereeing decisions than bulls**t foul calls.

of course thats why twenty20 was introduced, to make it more marketable, but
the game still changed massively, im thinking compared to test cricket. i
think it depends on what you class as the "essence" of ultimate (although i
do still think the "essence" can change over time). is it the spirit or is
it that "ultimate is a fast moving game played with a flying disc" and with
endzones for goals. in which case one could say the essence hasnt changed,
but the application has.
either way, its worth a shot i guess.
