Interesting Phil. I like my Sunglasses polarized so I can see the subtle
depth variations when the lake is down. W/o the polarization, that isn't
possible. I fear the only drawback to my type of sunglasses is that I can't
read my GPS with them on. So, I do the kewl thing and raise them up to me
forehead!

John,
The coating sounds fine but I'm a big proponent of non-polarized
sunglasses
for sailing. I had always though it was a problem but it really came home
when I was helping a friend of mine sail his C34 from Half Moon Bay back
to
Pier 39 SF.
Things were beginning to kick up so I went into my race crew mode and
started calling the puffs. Mark was standing at the wheel all decked out
in
foulies, a set of SOS suspenders with harness, and wraparound dark
sunglasses when he said, "How do you do that? My son can do it but I can
never see the wind coming."
All I had to do was ask one question. Are those sunglasses polarized? The
answer was yes they were his Scott cross country ski glasses. Mystery
solved.
He gave up the wheel in another 10 minutes and it was a hoot coming under
The Gate while it was blowing forty.

I am getting new prescription glasses and wonder about the anti glare
coating. The coating is similar to the coating used on camera lenses.
But, seems that this coating is hard to clean.
While I'm out sailing, I sweat, get splashed, go swimming, and covered
with sunscreen.
I wonder if any of you sailors have gotten such glasses and have either
good or bad experiences with them?
