RED-NECKED GREBE IBIS Sp. MERLIN BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER AMERICAN AVOCET RUDDY TURNSTONE PARASITIC JAEGER POMERINE JAEGER LITTLE GULL PHILADELPHIA VIREO GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH CAPE MAY WARBLER LINCOLN’S SPARROW Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC) ------------ 9/16: An AMERICAN AVOCET was reported from Puddler’s Marsh. 2 SANDHILL CRANES were also seen. 9/17: The AMERICAN AVOCET was still present at Puddler’s and is still present today. An IBIS was seen at Puddler”s on the 17th. and at May’s Point Pool on the 18th. It is a juvenile and does not have enough markings to be identified as either Glossy or White-faced. Onondaga County ------------ 9/13: 3 AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVERS were seen in the upper parking lot of the State Fair in Syracuse. 9/18: At Three Rivers WMA north of Baldwinsville 6 Warbler species plus PHILADELPHIA VIREO and 2 RAVENS were seen. OswegoCounty ------------ 9/13: A POMERINE JAEGER was seen from Oswego Harbor. Also found were 2 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, 2 RUDDY TURNSTONES, and a GREATER SCAUP. 9/14: 5 PARASITIC JAEGERS were seen from Oswego Harbor. Also seen were 5 RED-NECKED GREGES, 2 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, a MERLIN, and 7 waterfowl species including a LESSER SCAUP and 4 BLUE-WINGED TEAL. 9/18: A trip from the Deer Creek WMA to Derby Hill along Lake Ontario turned up 9 Warbler species, a GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH, a LINCOLN’S SPARROW, and a PHILADELPHIA VIREO. Oneida County ------------ 9/17: An Onondaga Audubon Field Trip to Sylvan Beach found the LITTLE GULL still present among the large number of BONAPARTE’S GULLS. 1 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER and 2 SANDERLINGS were also on the beach.
