The file is not compatible with my version of packet tracer. Use 5.2 and 5.3.2. 
What version do you use?

>From what you describe you have a simple sketch like below. 


VLAN 2 (192.168.2.2) --------- SW1------trunk link-------- SW2 --------- VLAN 2 
(192.168.2.3)

This should work without issues in the first place.
