>One of the many reasons I live in Lexington. They attempted an ordinance

>potentially caused the dog to be taken away should the dog bark on and
>off for any reason for more than a few minutes.

The one I linked to was even worse than that. All it takes is a couple people
to complain about your dog in any way and they can be impounded. And this is
something that has already been passed! It's pretty clearly intended to make
owning a pet at all difficult...just what the animal rights wackos want.

>The public backlash against it actually caused the city council member
>who proposed it to not get re-elected.

I'd be surprised if that doesn't happen in Louisville as well. It truly is the
most anti-pet legislation ever passed, by a good margin.

>In the dogs I have owned, the males that were intact always seemed
>happier, and more energetic, which is what I want out of my dog.

More energy constantly perhaps, but that doesn't equate to happiness. A hyper,
constantly up dog isn't necessarily "happier", any more than a person is. I
personally though have never had any issues with my dogs activity levels after
neutering. I do many canine sports, and have one of the fastest dogs in the
country (well, in his prime he was). Most people that compete in canine sports
neuter their dogs even though these are timed events where speed and energy is
everything. The dogs are, however, much calmer and easier to live with around
the house, and much less likely to mark.

There's a little clip of Taz in action here. As you can see, he is certainly a
happy dog!

>I'm not talking about the dog getting some; I'm more talking about
>testosterone.

I was talking tongue in cheek, saying that the poor dog you leave intact has
all this built-in sex drive, and nothing to use it up on. How happy could he
possibly be?! If I was in that situation, I think I'd be *much* happier to get
*rid* of the sex drive. ;-)
