"Both are wrong. Only the latter could be prevented with voter id,
yet incidents
of the former are being cited to demand voter id. "

I have not heard or read of anyone citing registration fraud as a reason
for voter id. I don't doubt someone has though. Probably wouldn't be a
bad idea to have somoen show an ID to register. Might cull out all of the
Mickey Mouses that keep registering.

"Actual incidents of someone committing voter fraud are very rare."

What is the definition of rare?

Voter fraud is actually common. The majority of it involves absentee
ballots, but every type under the sun does occur.

Even if it were rare, consider the following. The Presidential race of
2000 came down to a couple of hundred votes. Minnesota's senate race in
2008 came down to 312 votes. Any fraud in these cases was significant.

The 113 cases I mentioned are all convictions for voting illegally in
Minnesota during the 2008 elections. It gets better. There were 112
additional people charged and awaiting trials when the report was issued.
There were 73 potential cases pending charges.

There is the testimony of an election judge in Minnesota about his station
during the 2008 election. This is just a tiny little town.

RICK SMITHSON: We had an incident. I live in a small town of about 900
people and we had — I’m not sure. I called one of the city council members
to ask him. It was between 10 and 13 people came into the same day
registration table. And by the way, I election judge all the time so I’ve
seen situations like this, not necessarily exactly like this but very
similar ones.

On this particular night, between 10 and 13 people showed up for same day
registration. They all claimed the local laundromat address as their
residence. When we challenged it, we called the State Auditors Office and
we were told that there was nothing we could do about it. We were told that
we couldn’t interfere with their right to vote but we could make note of it.

These are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes election fraud in
Minnesota. It is ground zero for election fraud.

Consider the implications of the senate race. Al Franken steals the
elections and is the deciding vote on Obamacare.

Last month, a Republican city commissioner in Philadelphia released a
report that examined only 1 percent of 1687 voting districts. It found
cases of double voting, voter impersonation, non-citizen voting, and voting
by unregistered people. I know, an evil Republican released the report.
It doesn't change the fact that these issues were verified and did happen.

A little more on the recent poll by the Washington Post:

Among all adults, 74 percent supported photo ID, as did 76 percent of
independents and even 60 percent of Democrats. Sixty-five percent of blacks
and 64 percent of Hispanics backed requiring ID at the polls. Those who
lack a high-school degree — the demographic whose members are probably the
most likely not to be able to afford an ID – registered 76 percent support.

Bunch of bigots, right? Or maybe they believe that if you're too fucking
lazy or irresponsible to get an ID, you probably shouldn't be voting.
