Here is my take on it. Christie, (not so) secretly wants Pres.Obama to get re-elected. That sets him up for a run in 2016. If Gov. Romney wins, that makes it less likely he has a shot in 2016.
While I applaud what he has done so far (and I never liked the guy), I don;t think his recent actions are completely altruistic. Don't get me wrong, I think the man cares deeply about the people of his state, but I also think he sees how his reaction to this disaster could benefit his own political career. In 4 years, he can tout how he worked with the president to help rebuild NJ (assuming of course 4 years from now it is rebuilt or at least well on its way). Bottom line, for me, even if his motives are completely selfish those who stand to benefit most are those affected by the storm. Motive, in this case, takes a back seat, in my opinion.
