Having done a couple Struts projects, you need a couple of good Java folks to help wade through implementing Struts. I'd look at Fusebox (3 or 4, not MX nee Mach-II) if you're looking for a plug and play framework *for ColdFusion*. Struts has many more built in features (eg the validator) but is a lot more complicated. For our small CF5 to Struts migration project (roughly 30k lines of CF code), the struts-config file was something like 2800 lines (of course now you can distribute the Struts config files, but not at that time).
If you're using CFMX for J2EE, you could consider doing some apps in Struts, some in CFMX, but I don't see a lot of advantage to mixing them in the same app -- I think it will be pretty complicated and not sure what value it gives you.
