Subject: status bars, icons, collection-related actions at great distances from collections
With respect: Davor Cubranic wrote: > > … "Remove" could be done completely differently: just edit the "tag" at > the bottom of the detail view. > -1 Within the status bars/lines (there appear to be two) within the two detail views (one of which may be separate): the worded representations of the collections are too _far removed_ (bottom right) from the actual collections (top left) (with colours, iconography and other collection-related features) to which those words refer. See below. > … if the tag got an "X" button on mouse hover. > -1 X = close (an extremely common action). X should never remove (a less common, less desirable action). X should never delete (a less common, less desirable action). AFAIR there is no undo command following removal or deletion, so a user's expectation to simply close should never result in unexpected removal or deletion. If an icon is to be gained: use a trash icon. --- This is not entirely negative :) Davor, I do share your wish for easier removal within a single Chandler window; I disagree only on layout/implementation. Related to my aim, two requests for enhancement <https://bugzilla.osafoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12527> <https://bugzilla.osafoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12528> are in fledgling form. I must stress that within both, the visions are not refined; and that my aim is to *not* unnecessarily disrupt any established Chandler way of working. Before a sketch of any value can be offered, I'll consider a range of influences including but not limited to <http://www.diigo.com/list/grahamperrin/cdn> and ultimately I'm prepared to invalidate both bugs. Neither enhancement mentions delet*, remov*, pop, dialog* or window so if/when on-list discussion of those notions occurs, I should encourage a separate topic. Closing thought: status bars are too often ignored or overlooked.
