On the subject of poles or trees...

I was wondering if the city would let us expand the network along the
river walk and tap into the power used for the light posts if we came
up with a (non-ugly) outdoor enclosure.
Since CHAOS is Chattahoochee Area, it might be nice for access to
expand (as other things in history do) along the river, giving us
exposure to our friends across the water.

On the note of an non-ugly enclosure: I'd like to see something that
blends in with the theme of the river walk area or one that is just
difficult to distinguish from what would normally be found on a light
post. A standard form factor that is easily connected and installed
would be most happyfying. :)

Also thought about getting permission to add one to a call box poll on
the highway. Already bought the WRT to put wireless in my car. Not sure
what to do with that one yet though. It would be cool to be able to
park and home and have my car synch with a computer in the house. Maybe
to do something as frivolous as downloading podcasts for me to listen
to on the way to work, or uploading maintenance stats from the car.
Combined with a GPS, I could keep track of my travel or download maps
while I'm parked near the network. The car could also function as a
repeater or an extension of the columbusfreenet.org network when I'm
parked downtown. At least then I'll be doing _something_ productive
while I'm getting hammered!

Anyway. Just some thoughts.
