No unfortunately in the UK this would seem to be not uncommon.  We've had
people posing as others and passing tests for just about everything, driving
licences to university degrees.  So people from overseas with slightly more
"questionable" procedures only get found out on the job.  This guy had
residence and rights to work.  To cap it all when he found out that his wife
could not have children he divorced her and went "home" marrying another
woman and bringing her into the country.  We were not sorry to see him go!
