I have a Boomkicker, but if I were to do it again, I would install Garhauer
rigid vang. The cost is not that much different, but it seems to me that the
Garhauer vang is a bit more solid.

Btw. The Boomkicker is pretty strong. I would not seat on the boom, but you can
lean on it without a problem.

Regardless of what you choose, you will need a vang. And I would strongly
suggest to run the line to the cockpit – you will use it.

At Garhauer talk to Guido; he will help you figure out the details.

I find that with them, it is easier to talk on the phone than trying to have
the discussion via email. At least, make the initial contact by phone.

Here's another post to get some experience-based advising.  I am looking to
purchase a rigid boom vang to replace the topping lift (damn thang) which is
always in the way of everything.   I will also replace the blocks/line I have
as manual vang. Tangs are built-in on the boom and mast base. I don't want
hydraulics, but wonder who can recommend which vang/size and other
considerations (vendor, etc) based on your purchase/use of them.

There is Forespar, Garhauer, Boomkicker, etc.  Some are less expensive but
appear the same.  Thoughts?
