two points: - As much as I am a big fan (and proponent) of the climbing gear for climbing, I am not sure if the climbing webbing of any kind would be the right choice (we are again talking about static vs. dynamic load) – the jacklines should be static (not much stretch, but you won’t be falling far).
- If you use knots on webbing, make sure that you use correct knots. Most of the normal (i.e most common) knots would not hold on a flat webbing. The knots at the ends will be lower; and the shock of a 250 lb person being thrown off the boat and dragged will definitely use up a bunch of that strength… — Fred Fred Street -- Minneapolis S/V Oceanis (1979 C&C Landfall 38) -- on the hard in Bayfield, WI :^( On Mar 27, 2017, at 11:20 AM, Graham Young via CnC-List <cnc-list@cnc-list.com> wrote: Fred, Bill, and Joel, Thanks for the quick and helpful responses. I was poking around on the Defender and West Marine Websites already this morning to get some ideas, but had no basis for making a choice. Your responses will help. If I do end up buying from Defender, will definitely wait for the sale! Joel, any particular specs on the climbing webbing?? I'm not familiar with climbing gear. Thanks again everybody, Graham
