Here's an interesting tid-bit.  I've got an old Interphase Locator boat 
LORAN.  Generally, it works just fine.  But on 2 separate occasions, thats
2 
for 2, when my groundspeed got up around 140 kts, it froze.  (most boats 
don't go that fast <G>)  When it wakes up again, it indicates some speed
like 
25 and shows me being 15 or 20 miles from where I was.  It takes it
several 
minutes to get it's brains unscrambled.  Both times the high ground speed
was 
as a result of descending from what had been a pretty fast cruise, so I'm 
guessing it didn't recover until I dropped back under the magic number, 
whatever it is (around 138 kts or so) .
