Both Garmin and Magellan have stopped this stupidity.

It's even in the documetnation on the web sites. Now, 
even the cheapos allow you to go up to 900 knots or
so.

Marv Busch from avweb.com is sending me an old copy 
of the FAA database so I can write some code to create
Waypoint (freeware) files which will facilitate putting 
waypoints into the $100-class GPS boxes.
