Percy,
    No need for wood stove pellets.  As you taxi out to the active you
should do a couple of slow S turns and check the control surfaces at
that time.  Turn yoke left, nose goes left, left aileron goes up, left
rudder goes left.   Turn yoke right, nose goes right, right aileron goes
up, right rudder goes right.  Simple.
