I don't think that this forum is inappropriate for this discussion. I
(and
I think Dave) never said and don't support the idea of getting rid of the
printed form of the Coupe Capers. Obviously, not everyone is online.
Even
if everyone was online, I still need something to read while taking care
of
business in the john. <grin>

But Skip HAS gone out of his way to discredit our efforts at utilizing the
Internet for what it is good at, namely, getting rare information
available,
and bringing people together in who are geographically seperated.

This is troubling to me. *WHY* has he done this? What motivates him? In
what way is the coupe community threatened by having channels for active
discourse and access to information? *EVERYONE* is a Pilot in Command.
*EVERY* piece of information has to be weighed and evaluated as to whether
we believe it. That goes without saying, but perhaps it needs to be said.

Dave, I, and others have volunteered to make an EOC web site...but for a
long time he resisted the idea. Then he comes out and says, "maybe we
should just get rid of the coupe capers." !?!huh?! and then, "Well, fine
then, I'm going to just have a minimalist web site, and oh by the way,
most
of the stuff out there is crap."

Why are we upset by this? Because we were just trying to build an online
community. We are just trying to get good information out there on the
airplane we love.

The problems with the printed version are easily met with a complementary
web version...*which* we already have, namely:

a) archived articles: I had a problem with my O-200 having excess oil out
the oil breather tube. Sure it was addressed in the 1986 Coupe
Capers...but
how in the world am I as a 2 year member going to know that or have access
the information? Web sites are GREAT at having searchable archives. (Oh
and
by the way, I got an answer in 1 DAY by way of email.)

b) Discussing problems with other people in a timely manner. When I have
a
problem, I can't wait for up to a month for my *question* to be printed,
let
alone how long it might take for an answer.

I'm planning on going to the National EOC convention, and I'm still
willing
to work out a way that we can all work together. But I really don't like
feeling attacked for what has been a purely voluntary attempt to build
community.

I am curious on what reaction people out there have had. Am I all wet?
