Nif is the Gamebryo model format. Besides Gamebryo, there are probably no other 3D and game engines that support the Nif format at all. So adding Nif support to CS will mean nothing for how up-to-date or advanced the engine is.
And besides NifTools, there are most likely very few tools available who can export to the Nif format (without an exporter from EGT, the company that currently owns and develops Gamebryo). So other than rendering existing game models from games like Oblivion, there is really no compelling reason at all for using Nif with CS even if it was supported.
