You have some good hardware so I doubt it is the problem. About how many players does it choke at?
I also suggest running a speed test yourself to verify the speeds you're receiving. 100Mb is good but more is preferred. You can check out a cli version of the speedtest from Github since you (hopefully) aren't running X in the background. Make sure you run the test without the DS running.
