No, they two groups have most definitely gone their seperate ways. It's too
long and sorry a saga to repeat here. www.firebirdsql.org has a summary from
their point of view.

Ah, no - Borland has essentially moved away from open source for the future
of Interbase. I don't think any source from Interbase 6.5 onwards is
available from Borland.
Firebird is following their own path - and at quite a pace too :-)
