Currently, it doesn't (I think) but eventually, yes - I think Firebird will need it's own set of IBX-style components (assuming that's what you mean). And tha's not because compatibility would be that hard, but more because John Overcash (the current IBX maintainer) has strong links to Borland (of necessity) and as such has little or no interest in ensuring Firebird compatibility.
