Yes I was aware that the two where on separate development paths, just
wasn't aware there was some animosity between the two. If that's what you
are saying.

No, they two groups have most definitely gone their seperate ways.
It's too
long and sorry a saga to repeat here. www.firebirdsql.org has a
summary from
their point of view.

Ah, no - Borland has essentially moved away from open source for the
future
of Interbase. I don't think any source from Interbase 6.5 onwards is
available from Borland.
Firebird is following their own path - and at quite a pace too :-)
