Actually ... after reading those comments (and reflecting on Rich's thread about effort duplication https://lists.apache.org/thread/4t0wcz073f9owf35t4yhsh34zn47nrhm ) - I also change my preferences to #4 being preferred
1) #4 2) #3 (but I think we need some "white" there - because the black-and-white pattern is a Magpie's signature look; otherwise, it looks just as a random bird 3) #2 Also, looking at Rich's concerns and Board discussions, I think there's a misunderstanding that we want to either a) set Foundation -level policies, b) bring Apache Way to others c) promote Apache Way inside ASF projects. None of this is actually in our goals: Incubator, Comdev, Tooling have their own "goals" there - and we should not even try to compete or "replace" those. We are "Way-agnostic" projects that come up with proposals that "any" OSS project can use. We include some ASF projects if they choose to do so, but we neither mandate nor expect all or most ASF projects will. It's freely up to the project - whether ASF or not—to "Adopt Magpie" (BTW. This is a great slogan we should use in promotion: "Adopt a Magpie" :). So - while mine and Justin's initial proposals included the ASF Oak, and Justin followed up on that, it **might** suggest that we do want to bring "Apache Way" to others (both in- and out- of ASF). That's why the geometric "M"-inspired logo fits way better here. Best regards, Jarek On Wed, Jun 10, 2026 at 3:59 AM Calvin Kirs <[email protected]> wrote: > I’m also a fan of #4.
