We're actively working on the next minor release <https://lists.apache.org/thread/rr1t42fm055vq0cst3v46hoxrszrbrh2>, 1.10 which will include that specific commit. Does it make sense to just wait for the 1.10 release or would you like to backport the fix to 1.9.x?
