Ignacio Vera commented on LUCENE-7951:
--------------------------------------

I put a new version where planetModel and distanceCalculator are initially
null, but factory.newSpatialContext sets the defaults if init(map) is not
called.

The issue with worldBounds is a bit nastier. I cannot really override it and it
is currently building one that is not a Geo3dShape. The issue is that to build
a shape I need the SpatialContext and the SpatialContext needs the Shape to set
the worldBounds. Therefore it uses the default mechanism which does not use
the ShapeFactory but creates a Spatial4j RectangleImpl.

> Hi,
> After the latest developments in the Geo3d library, in particular:
> [https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LUCENE-7906] : Spatial relationships
> between GeoShapes
> [https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LUCENE-7936]: Serialization of
> GeoShapes.
> I propose a new set of wrapper classes which can be for example linked to
> Solr as they implement their own SpatialContextFactory. It provides the
> capability of indexing shapes with
> spherical geometry.
> Thanks!
