In the font I used (Bitstream Vera Sans - condensed to 78% to fit best to the logo font) the capitalized "I" is nearly the same as the small "l", so people not speaking English very well could read "lncluded" :-( But most users of any computer all over the world have seen such a label before, so they estimate what it should mean (regardless of the capitalized or uncapitalized character). So for me that's a minor problem. But if you think different, we can discuss it in more detail in another thread - I think it's the same with any other label... To compare the two versions, please have a look at: http://www.familie-dippold.de/OEM_label_vote_B_capitalized.html (and the one you probably remember http://www.familie-dippold.de/OEM_label_vote.html)
+ Idea for possible improvement: could the background be from blue to white to blue (top>bottom) with the white part behind OpenOffice.org? Makes the productname a little more important compared to 'included'. But that might not be the intenstion?
The intention was to use the artwork from the splash screen - there we have the blue-to-white gradient and no blue-white-blue one. But you're right, the gradient there ended much higher in order to put the logo on a white background (the gradient was removed manually behind the black gulls). http://marketing.openoffice.org/art/galleries/marketing/splashscreens/20-Splashscreen_w_Sun_Logo.png But if I modify the gradient to make it smaller, the wire gulls seem to become brighter and the color of the label seems to move a bit towards a brighter blue - so don't know if it's really better. I replaced label D in the new page (familie-dippold.de/OEM_label_vote_B_capitalized.html) by the version of B with smaller gradient - please have a look by yourself.
