Thanks for your response, Samisa. :) It's not just about upholding branding guidelines. It's important to consider that a critical part of Stratos's success at Apache will rest in being able to differentiate itself from WSO2 Stratos. Now, this may not be a problem. And I am sure that even with the name "Statos" we can co-ordinate with WSO2 to make sure our branding is clear and consistent. But it's worth bearing in mind that we are fighting against the preconception that Stratos is a WSO2 product. That's what we're up against.
Is it possible to make a name for ourselves as Apache Stratos, with the WSO2 history? Yep. Almost certainly. (Though, depending on the branding of each, this might be easier or harder.) Would it be easier to make a clean break and choose a new name? Perhaps!
