A few comments about this thread. Thanks to all of you for your opinions so
far.

The original idea was to host a central repository for links, files and
howto's. My company, Resource Strategies, will provide the gear and
bandwidth to do this at no charge.

people controlling this drop off the face of the planet?"

We (Resource Strategies) have been "on net" since 1993. We're not going
anywhere. If we were to have financial issues we could coordinate the
transfer of all of this to the community. So far we have outlasted quite a
few of the "big guys" :>

<QUOTE> Darrell May said: "Mitel is most welcomed to participate in any way
they feel. If they came forward and said they were interested in
hosting/moderating the LinkBase I'm sure we'd all say 'go for it'"

I agree 100%.

<QUOTE> Brandon Freidman said: "As far as commercialising, well I wouldn't
count my chickens just yet! But I don't see any harm in a few banner-ads?
No porn sites though :)!"

As a matter of record, I block banner ads :>

One of the reasons that Darrell's suggestion of using LinkBase was so
powerful was that we won't be required to provide the bandwidth and storage
for everyone. Many of the dev-info community have sites of their own and
would not want to give them up. LinkBase lets us point to those site from a
central location.

We can also host some contribs for the developers with less resources, but
this way the hits on those contribs won't overwhelm our bandwidth.
