Dan, et al.,

I would like to hope that, like the Redhat Fedora Project, Mitel will
also be involved as Redhat is involved.

>From Redhat/Fedora "The Red Hat engineering team will continue to
participate in the building of Fedora Core and will invite and encourage
more outside participation than was possible in Red Hat Linux."

It appears that Mitel, unlike Redhat and Fedora, will not be actively
participating in the building of the new "E-Smith Core", although Mitel
will assist in the transition to the E-Smith Community.

This brings up some questions that I'm sure the community would like to
have answered, at least I know that I would :-) Also please do not take
this as negative criticism at all. It definitely is not. E-Smith/SME is
a great package and would not have gotten as far as it has if it were
not for the original group and the Mitel group.

1. Although a relatively minor issue, does the name have to be changed?
2. If Mitel is continueing the commercial version, what platform will
they be using? It makes sense to avoid forks, particularly since "we
will be continuing to develop applications on top of our commercial
release and as we make changes to GPL components we will release them
to the community just as any other developer should do".
3. Are there any plans to "follow Redhat's lead" regarding someone at
Mitel to at least act as a consultant to the not-yet-but-soon-to-be
deV team for the Community version.

Thanks for your time, and

Regards,

John C.
