I do agree that افتراضي would suit virtual quite well, but since it's already widely used for "default"(which has no accurate arabic meaning) i think وهمي would be a closer match, as all virtual things are also illusions.

وهمي=a product of the imagination, just like a fata morgana(سراب)
افتراضي is derived from افترض, a programmer takes some settings that he يفترض are the most common and by that making them افتراضي=default.

I agree that افتراضي isn't very right for "defaults" but alas, the big players have made it the official translation for as far long i can remember... changing a word that is already widely used is not good as it breaks standards.
