Netscape 4.08 also works on a 280c with the factory original 7.1.1 if the
CFM Runtime Enabler 4.0 extension is downloaded and installed from
Apples web site.

Netscape 4.08 is the only browser with valid security certificates
that will run on the 280c.None of the 280c compatible versions of Internet
Explorer with valid certificates. This means on line
purchases, stock trades, etc annot be made with a 280c running IE.

Took me days of asking questions to the "experts" and getting mostly
unintelligible computese answers to my questions about the complications
involving the shared printer/modem port of the Duo and 500 series computers.
Finally after hours of painstaking trial and error I got my my 280c working
on the net via it's factory installed Apple Express Modem. Later through
more trial and error I learned how to use an external modem.
