Yes- we too have been forced to upgrade--not considered an upgrade, rather a
"technology migration"-- and have been forced to pay for the priveledge.
They add that they are doing this in an effort to bring their customer base
up to a level that is in tune with today's technology--personally, I think
they want to get rid of those that cost them in support.
Harbinger/Peregrine states that the due to the high cost of the R & D behind
this new technology they are asking their customer base to pay for the
migration. So far I have yet to see my $$'s worth in additional user
functionality. Rape and pillage come to mind.
I never recieved an upgrade as part of my very costly maintenance fees and
now this...
We have included verbiage in our "updated" contract stating that any R&D
done in the future should be at their cost ONLY as part of retaining their
customer and remaining current with emerging technologies.
The thing that gets me the most is the process they went through. I
recieved no less than 7 quotes for the new version. Finally, after throwing
my hands up I decided to begin research on their competitors...at this point
I recieved a new rep and a new quote that I could live with...
I can't wait for this project to begin. If it is anything like our
implementation of TLE 4.1.4, I am scared to death...nothing but problems.
