Ken,
You are so right.  It's amazing what happens when you tell the correct people
that they're not getting paid.

It's no crime to ask here and if it saves some time, great.  But it's no excuse
to say "they won't talk to me" and then call it a day, either.  Sometimes
people with less experience overlook the obvious, but when that is pointed out
to them and they refuse the advice they asked for, and knock the person(s)
giving it, I get a little peeved.

If you don't like the advice you've asked for, be polite enough to understand
that's your issue, not the fault of the adviser.

I reserve the right to renege on my own advice when it comes to misogynous
comments by you know who ;)

I have done the call the switchboard and keep trying until you get the right
person, and it took several days to get to the right department in more than
one instance.

But of course, I'm old school (and yes I remember having to evade the dinosaurs
on the way to the EDI server for all those needing to lighten up a day early)
and understand the value of seeking solutions myself by whatever personal means
necessary.  Actually have never posted a request to this group or any other
seeking TP contact information and I've exchanged EDI with several thousand
TP's in the last 10+ years...

In my several hundred attempts to do this over 10+ years (where I didn't
already have TP contact info), I was unsuccessful one time.

In that instance, I then referred the issue to the business side of the company
with the comment, "this TP/customer EDI errored out, the TP/customer hasn't
provided updated EDI contact and we can't get our invoice paid".    That
usually does the trick or it did in the one case where everything else didn't
work..

Huh? Where have you been the past ten years?

Every week we're good for at least a couple of "does anyone have a contact for
<my trading partner>?" questions.

>...which was found by doing a google search using 'Amazon EDI contact'...

I know I once posted my own personal technique . let's see if I can find
it....nah... but let me recreate best I can...

Pick up this newfangled thing they call a "telephone." (This wondrous piece
of technology allows you to speak with other people
who are not even in the same room!)

Call the parnter's switchboard (phone numbers are often found on the partner's
web site); press '9' to speak to a human if
necessary.

Introduce yourself and state your problem to the human. Allow that human to
connect you with the correct party.

Allow for the fact that you may not get the exact right party the first time
and you may have to introduce yourself and explain the
information you seek again. Repeat until succesful.

Darned, now all my competitors are privy to my secret method!
