There have been plenty of discussion about material. Here is one at

"Again if any of you know of any resource for open

portuguese, I would appreciate. I am an english
speaker working in a portuguese speaking country (in
southern africa). I have the resources in english but
a portuguese version would be so beneficial to the
learners"
Ok its a request for material rather than an offer to supply it but if
people are prepared to contribute there is nothing to stop them. The
main difficulty for me then would have been finding someone to actually
put it on the web site. Ok, if it had become a specific problem I would
have done something about it. Part of my strategy with the INGOTs was to
address this problem - no-one was coming forward with materials - so if
I can get an income stream I can simply commission people to develop
things and also encourage contributions that lead to certification. Its
not a quick fix, its a longer term strategy. Just one strategy though,
perhaps other people have other strategies that can be complementary to
this. I do in fact have some teaching materials that pupils on work
experience here created and Alexandro recently did some films while he
worked here for a while. I was going to make them available from the
Wiki, again problems for me with accessing the marketing part of the web
site put me off doing it until now.
The process in that case would have been to put the material on an issue
and ask for help to put it on the website. We do that in all OOo
projects, we are not supposed to know how to deal with every thing, but
some of us know and we often offer our help for that.
I don't have the ability to manage the pages.
That makes two of us :-)
Just because I'm not a marketing developer and even if participate with
documents like new features guides or more recently, with the new charts
module document, I don't want to be a marketing developer. So when I
need to have docs on line, I ask members of the marketing project and
put my work on an issue.
That's your opinion which I think is not the actuality. The Edu list is
for discussing anything related to OOo and education.
This is
not in the interest of this list, that's all.
Your assumption and really you have hardly been here so it is a big
assumption, especially when I can fine mail like the one above that
shows otherwise.
Otherwise, there will be
at least some material in the Doc&Files part of the site, you don't need
access right here.
That assumes I know that is the case. One of the problems with such a
big and complex project is making assumptions about what other people
can and can not do or do or do not know. I assumed that such thngs would
need access rights since there is more logic in some security there than
in just editing say the schools pages. So I just learnt someting. Pity
no-one since 2003 thought to E-mail me and either tell me or offer
support on that. I have sent out private E-mails to individuals who
seemed likely to be able to contribute but mostly they were not able to
for their own reasons.
Here I don't understand. Ian, all the explanations are on the site and
more in your language. I agree it takes time to know how to use a
collaborative tool, and each project I belong to, use its own version of
tool :( but we can't do else than learning them to participate to the
project at a high level.
Yes, so the project is here since 2003, where are the resources ? Can
you point me to the messages or the material ?
Ok, so you think I haven't done the job well enough.
No. As I already said and write, I think that you've done an hard and
great job on the marketing/educ part. The other part, development and
resources have not been done, but you didn't mean that you wanted to
manage them. Hence my offer and how I see them separated.
That is fair
enough, I haven't yet managed to get any resources onto the education
site so I guess its a fair cop. I hereby resign and you can take over as
project lead. I think Jacqueline can pass over the list moderation to
you and you can then either shut it down or transfer to the new
Incubator site. To be honest I really no longer have the time. This has
come at a very bad time for me as I have a work deadline in 3 weeks and
all this has already meant I have to work completely over the weekend
and miss the rugby. I'll just be an ordinary member and give what help I
can where I can.
You make your own choice, Ian, so I've nothing to say here.
But my proposal doesn't comport marketing tasks as you were well
managing them.
Now, some members here think that marketing should be part of the
education project, this is not up to me to decide it, but to members of
the marketing/educ project.
My only concern, and those who know my work for the OOo project will
know it's true, is to make the education project available to share
resources and developments and bring contributors to it.
Why not. But marketing is lead by Ian and here, it's up to him to decide
where he want his project be.
No, the education project which happened to be in the marketing project
was led by Ian. It no longer is so you have a free hand to do or propose
whatever you want to.
I'm sorry to see you resign, Ian.
But in any case, this is not up to me to say where the members here want
to go. If you no longer speak for them, they will decide what is good
for the project.
Kind regards
Sophie
