Ok, my thoughts on this are the following:
1) I don't feel this place to be based around marketing only but.....how
can you have development without marketing, if you don't promote the
product to schools then you won't know what they need so you won't be
able to develop anything! What I found with Karoshi is that at first we
were putting in our features and ideas, but as soon as we started to get
'real' schools using the system, that's when we really got the
understanding of what should be added or changed, I feel that if there
is going to be a development section it should be under marketing not
beside it.
I agree with you, but in some countries, usage of OOo in education
sector is advanced. So developments are made and puzzled any where on
the net.
The principle would be to list those developments to allow other
countries to use, translate, and enhance them.
2) As said above by previous posters, I don't think alot of people have
viewed their opinions because the posting is very difficult to get
though, let alone understand the reasons behind anything! This may mess
up the odds of people's opinions to this post.
I'm sorry about that. The proposal for the incubator education project
is in Louis hands but he is actually traveling to India, so he may not
had the time to review it.
3) I also find that this is a low usage mailing list, compared to a lot
of others I am a member of, if we spilt again, there will be even less
posts and people would be expected to join both, in my opinion a mailing
list should only be spilt if the post exceeds the time available to read
them, so say around 500 or more posts a day, the owner/s should look
into splitting the list up.
The idea is not to split it, the idea is to create a new one dedicated
to development. Students interested in developments may not come to a
marketing list and I'm sure a lot of members here won't bother reading
messages full of code lines or with translation issues.
As you said, this list is low traffic (41 messages sent for the last
three month) so moving it won't be very difficult, but if people don't
express interest on moving, it's better to let it here.
Well, what I said above is probably totally irrelevant!
No, I don't think so. We need to know what people want with this list.
Thanks
Sophie
