Hello Folks,
Another fine day today. Well except for the mountain beaver deciding our foundation was meant for hole digging. But we will deal with him. Means I'll not be hanging any wire antennas but hacking down the last year's growth of alder. But the back 'yard' needs a clearcut! The bracken fern are getting wiped out by the rodent so I'll just complete the job and take out his cover too.

I finally beat a bit of VHDL into submission but all of my software training has not prepared me for creating circuitry via high level languages. Small changes in the VHDL make major differences in the digital circuitry. More education is necessary before I start crafting CPUs on the fly! Fascinating stuff though. Maybe one day we will be able to flash a new processor into our Elecraft rigs ;) Wayne does have a few things up his sleeve but we do read the same trade journals :)

Tomorrow we will try the 20 meter net but not the 40 meter one. Forty meters is quite noisy at our regular time so I'll wait until the sun starts setting earlier before I reinstate it. The sun is already showing signs of autumn but a few months will help the band get stronger. That also means 20 meters will start getting worse. It's the nature of the business.

   Please join us:
Sunday 2300z (Sunday 4pm PDT) 14050 kHz

Visit our web site: http://ecn.visionseer.com/ for net details. Thank you Dan.

See you tomorrow evening,
    Kevin. KD5ONS

Good luck in the remainder of the North American QSO Party! Sounds like folks are having a great time.
   KJR
