Moderate involvement as a developer/integrator. I hope to switch to a user sometime soon! :) > 3 -- So you believe that LinuxCNC should be actively promoted or > that it should be left alone to exist in peace? I think it is critical for LinuxCNC to pull in new developers and adapt to the changing world of Linux real-time. > 4 -- Do you come to it as a free and excellent body of code > available for your own use or do you see it as part of what > provides their livelihood? I was drawn to LinuxCNC due to the configurable nature of the motion control and HAL, with the intention of supporting non-Cartesian delta-style 3D printers (ie: Rostock and derivatives) via custom kinematics. > 5 -- Should it be protected by strong licensing from those who > might attempt to use it without contributing back to the community? > Or should it be sown upon the earth freely for anyone to use in any > fashion they wish without the hassles of legal contracts? I don't much care one way or another, both options have their own pros and cons. The code I'm writing isn't really significant enough to worry about and I'd just like to see LinuxCNC continue as a successful project. I am willing to support the license the group feels is best suited to continuing forward progress. > 6 -- Should there be a formal organization that manages the future > of LinuxCNC? I would hope this is not required. The project doesn't seem that big (or that active) at the moment, and I do not really see how a formal organization would help move things forward. But I'm new here and don't have a good feel for the project history or personalities involved. - -- Charles Steinkuehler char...@steinkuehler.net -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (MingW32) Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://www.enigmail.net/ iEYEARECAAYFAlG1SZ4ACgkQLywbqEHdNFwfXgCfWymaSkZG6ai0RbGGcI7OK36Q UzYAoK8JAxcRaDxpa35U4B1Xnez4x3AR =aCnx -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ How ServiceNow helps IT people transform IT departments: 1.
