Re Kernel update, Downloaded this onto desktop and then all I had to do was double click and installer ran automatically.
Now works fine with my Diecimilia board whereas before I could not download to the chip before, so far so good. I'm not in my workshop so unable to try emc actually running, but it loads ok.
