Ah, I misinterpreted your statement then - sorry about that.

RT tasks don't show up on multiprocessor or uniprocessor systems, since 
they run in the kernel.  (or I think that's the reason anyway)  It 
doesn't have anything to do with SMP/UP.  The isolated CPU still shows 
in the task monitor, and you can write non-RT programs that will run on 
that CPU (by setting processor affinity within the program), and will 
show up in top.  The isolated core isn't actually "dedicated to RT 
threads", it's just hidden from the normal scheduler.  A fine semantic 
point there :)
