One is to get a USB "Laptop Connect" card. The other is to get a cell phone that allows USB tethering. Most Android phones allow tethering by default. I cannot speak for any of the others.
I have 10.04LTS on my laptop, and Network Manager detects my cell phone automatically (Samsung Captivate, upgraded to Android 2.2). Just be aware that a tethering data plan may be required, depending on your service provider, if you use a cell phone. I haven't used a laptop connect card in almost 2 years, but I've been told that they work equally well in 10.04. I had my laptop connect card (Sierra Wireless) working in 8.04LTS, but I had to fiddle with several network settings, to get it to work reliably. -- -Mark Ne M'oubliez ---Family Motto Hope for the best, plan for the worst ---Personal Motto ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ BlackBerry® DevCon Americas, Oct. 18-20, San Francisco, CA http://p.sf.net/sfu/rim-devcon-copy2 _______________________________________________ Emc-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/emc-users
