I believe I am running with about 50 Lbs of strand tension on my Bridgeport with its very undersized 3/8" belts. Wider belts need even more tension. But, I don't think your problem really relates to the belts, due to that pic that showed a sharp disturbance on two axes at the same moment. I think that most likely is some kind of electrical disturbance, but can't quite put my finger on it.
